Valérie Donzelli
Before entering the world of cinema, Valérie studied architecture but abandoned it to become an actress. She then built her career with early short films and film festivals before releasing her first feature film, LA REINE DES POMMES.
Her film LA GUERRE EST DÉCLARÉE was presented as the opening film of the Critics' Week at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011. It won awards at the Cabourg Festival and Paris Cinéma and was nominated for four César Awards in 2012, including Best Film and Best Director. In 2015, her feature film MARGUERITE & JULIEN was selected for the Official Competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
Alongside her directing career, Valérie has also worked as an actress, appearing in SAINT LAURENT, LES CHEVALIERS BLANCS, and the TV series DIX POUR CENT (Call My Agent!). In 2019, she directed the film NOTRE DAME, in which she played an architect.
In 2021, she co-directed her first TV series, NONA ET SES FILLES, with Clémence Madeleine-Perdriat. The show, broadcast by Arte, tells the story of a feminist activist, mother of triplets, and head of a family planning center.
Valérie Donzelli returned to Cannes in 2023 for the premiere of her film L’AMOUR ET LES FORÊTS, starring Virginie Efira and Melvil Poupaud, adapted from Éric Reinhardt's novel of the same name.
